Swindon Borough Council have shared a breakdown of their recent pothole repair works that took place over the course of November.

The council road repair team say that they had fixed 560 potholes within five working days of each being reported.

509 of the potholes were identified by the the council's inspectors, who reportedly walk all 547 miles of the town's roads, and the 724 miles of pavements, cycle paths, and alleyways at least once a year.

Additionally, 155 repair reports from Swindon residents were recorded - of which the council said 51 were in criteria for a repair.

The council also commented on how it prioritises its repairs.

A spokesperson posted the following statement:

"As our budget is limited, we risk assess and prioritise repairs as follows:

  • 41mm or more deep - an inspection is carried out and the risk is assessed before a job is raised. We aim to repair urgent defects within 24 hours.
  • Less than 40mm deep – an inspection is carried out and a risk assessment is made to determine if the defect is a hazard and if a repair needs to be scheduled in."
