Swindon Borough Council have provided members of the public with advice on how to save water during the hotter summer months.
The council says it acknowledges that as the weather heats up and we have less rainfall, it can be more difficult to save water and help maintain supplies for everyone.
Staff at Swindon Borough Council have listed some simple steps that members of the public can take to reduce how much water they use, and possibly help them save money on their bills at the same time.
The tips are as follows:
- Reuse paddling pool water - water the plants or even wash the dog with the leftovers
- Swap a hose or sprinkler for a watering can - you’ll only use a fraction as much water
- Water plants at dusk or dawn as you’ll lose less water through evaporation
- Clean your car with a bucket and sponge instead of a hose
