Police arrest suspected arsonist after a Seat Ibiza was set ablaze

Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a vehicle was set on fire in Sparcells, Swindon.

At approximately 3.25am this morning (August 8), officers were called by the fire service to an address in Ryan Close following a report that a Seat Ibiza had been set on fire.

It is believed the fire had been started deliberately. 

Enquiries are ongoing and as part of our investigation, a man in his 20s and from Swindon, has been arrested on suspicion of arson. 

He is currently in custody at Gablecross for further questioning and enquiries are ongoing. 

Det Insp Helen Jacobs said: “While we don't believe this was a random attack, we would like to hear from anyone who was in the Sparcells area, in particular, Ryan Close, at around 3am this morning who may have seen or heard anyone acting suspiciously.

"We'd also like to hear from any residents who may have private CCTV or dash cams which may have captured any footage which could be useful to our investigation.
