Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a man inappropriately touched a woman.

The young woman, who was on her own, was approached by a man in a wooded area of Tumpy Park in the Shaw area of Swindon at about 11.20am on Saturday 25 September.

Officers said the man, who appeared to have been out running, approached the victim and after exchanging a few brief words, proceeded to touch and hug her inappropriately, without her consent, before moving away.

He is described as being about 5ft 6in tall, possibly of Japanese or Chinese heritage, with a medium build and between 30 and 40 years old.

He has short dark hair and some facial hair. He was wearing a dark blue long sleeved fleece with a collar zip. He was also wearing black jogging trousers and white trainers.

PC Jonathan Pearce said: “This was a very concerning incident during which a lone female was sexually assaulted. Although this was a secluded area of the park, it took place during the middle of the day in quite a busy area of Swindon. Anyone who saw a person matching this description, or who recognises who it might be is asked to contact us as a matter of urgency.”

Members of the public with information around the incident can call the police on 101, quoting log 54210093647.

Wiltshire Police are reminding members of the public that in an emergency, they should always call 999.
