All are welcome to take part in the Zoom gathering on Thursday, 23 July.

The organisation has a range of volunteering roles, including as listeners helping people at difficult times in their lives by providing confidential and non-judgemental emotional support.

The Samaritans answer a call for help every six seconds.

One unnamed volunteer said: "Now I can take quiet comfort in knowing that by answering the phone I can help someone feel better about themselves."

Anybody needing further information about the 23 July event, which is scheduled to run for an hour from 7.30pm, is invited to call 01793 512490 or email to register interest.
