The borough council has announced that it has been awarded £200,000 by the Government to make the necessary changes.

The cash is drawn from Whitehall's Emergency Active Travel Fund.

Locations earmarked for the temporary measures are Station Road, Farnsby Street/Commercial Road, Crombey Street, Faringdon Road between Holbrook Way/Fleet Street and Farnsby Street, Marlborough Road, the Old Town Railway Path and Kingsdown Lane.

The council has also revealed that it is exploring how to use a further £770,000 to improve walking and cycling, subject to Government confirmation of that grant award.
