A prolific shoplifter has been given a prison sentence after pleading guilty to numerous offences.
Mark Stiggers, 33, of Station Road, Swindon, appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after being charged and remanded for 16 shoplifting offences around Swindon.
The offences include several thefts of alcohol as well as food, games, washing tablets and cutlery sets from various supermarkets around the town.
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 16 weeks' imprisonment.
Investigating officer PC Jonathan Dean said: “Stiggers is a prolific offender who has repeatedly entered stores, taken items and left without making any attempt to pay.
“I’m pleased that he pleaded guilty and that the courts have given him a custodial sentence, where he can hopefully consider changing his ways.”
