It is now less than two weeks until this year's big Pride Picnic and March event in Swindon.

The Swindon & Wiltshire Pride team say they hope people have their picnic blankets and hampers at the ready as the free Pride Picnic is now just around the corner.

Taking place in Queens Park on Saturday, 13 August, the event aims to bring the LGBTQIA+ community and allies together for a fun community event, promoting equality and diversity.

A spokesperson for the event said: "A picnic wouldn’t be complete without fabulous food! You spoke and we listened. This year we’re very excited to have Nova bakes join our event, offering succulent vegan bakes, inspired by traditional home cooking.

"We are also delighted to confirm the return of JMF Elite Catering and Mama’s Sweet Treats who were hugely popular last year."

Once all the fun of the picnic is done, the 18+ community can join the Pride team at Boom Battle Bar for the official Pride After party.

The event will start from 7.00pm and will include Drag Queens, a dance floor and DJ, face and glitter paints and 2-for-1 taste the rainbow cocktails all night.

The Swindon & Wilts Pride team say although its committee family has always been small, it has been blessed through the years with fabulous volunteers who are essential to putting on its events.

The team's spokesperson added: "Volunteers are an integral part of making our events run smoothly. If you can spare some time on the 13 August, there are a number of roles that you can get involved with.

"As a volunteer, you’ll get involved with a number of activities, from greeting attendees at one of the gates, supporting the pride March, signposting attendees from our information tent and helping ensure the park is kept clean and clear, among other roles."

The Pride committee say they are looking for friendly, passionate individuals who are happy to get stuck in and hands-on. Those interested in supporting the event as a volunteer, can contact the Pride team at [email protected]

The Pride team added that they wish to say a massive thank you to South Swindon Parish Council for its support in hosting the event at Queen's Park.
