People living in Swindon are among the nation's most waste conscious according new data.
A survey conducted by up-cycling furniture firm The Hairpin Leg Company, has revealed that Swindon residents are behind only those of Bristol and Wick in Scotland when it comes to waste-conscious Google searches.
The study was conducted by The Hairpin Leg Company as a way of finding out where sustainable living was the most popular, and where the most eco-conscious people already lived in time for Earth Month.
Earth Month is a global event promoting international environmental consciousness.
A spokesperson for The Hairpin Leg Company said: “It was much more of a mixed bag than we envisaged.
“We expected London to be much higher than it was, for example; the narrative tends to be that it’s especially progressive and therefore has more waste-conscious people living there. In actual fact the top five locations included cities, seaside towns and a tiny fishing port in the Scottish highlands.”
“Swindon’s position on the list isn’t entirely surprising, as it’s long been established as a leader in terms of sustainability and Earth-friendly living. However, its presence above major cities like London, Birmingham and Manchester is interesting.”
