Swindon will remain in Tier Two after the Government carries out its national review of the tier system.

As part of the review it was hoped that Swindon would be moved down to Tier One but the Government has decided that the borough will remain as it is right now.

The review sees more parts of the east and south east of England moved to the toughest Tier Three restrictions including neighbouring Berkshire as well as part of Hampshire.

Bristol and North Somerset moved from Tier Three to Tier Two and Herefordshire has moved from Tier Two to Tier One.

The changes come into effect at 00:01 on Saturday.
