A brand new Sainsbury’s convenience store will be the first retail resident at the award winning developer Crest Nicholson’s Tadpole Garden Village development near Swindon, Wiltshire. Located at the Tadpole Local Centre, the new Sainsbury’s Local will open in the summer and bring a well-known retailer to the community at Tadpole Garden Village.

The announcement of the new convenience store is yet another milestone for Tadpole Garden Village. The new community has already seen the opening of a play park, a primary school, a secondary school and allotments, as well as the presentation to residents of the plans for a pub in partnership with the local Arkell’s Brewery. The development has its own website and app, to allow residents to keep up to date with community news.

Sainsbury’s will join four further retail outlets at the Tadpole Local Centre, which is arranged in an L-shaped terrace. When complete, the 350-acre Tadpole Garden Village site will include 2,700 new trees, 26km of hedgerow, allotments, an ecological bat corridor, community buildings, a range of educational facilities, football and cricket pitches and a community pavilion.

Andrew Dobson, Managing Director of Crest Nicholson Strategic Projects, commented: “This agreement with Sainsbury’s is an important milestone for the residents at Tadpole Garden Village. Since we first started work here in 2013, we’ve created a flourishing community with schools and a park to go alongside the homes we’ve built.”

Patrick Dunne, Director of Property, Procurement and Cost Transformation at Sainsbury’ssaid: “We’re very excited to provide Tadpole Garden Village residents with a brand new store right at their doorstep. We will get to work as quickly as possible to fit our store out and bring customers our great value, high quality products. We look forward to welcoming customers later in the year.”

Tracey Gallacher, Head of Sales and Marketing at Crest Nicholson South West, commented:“Having such a well-known and popular store at Tadpole Garden Village is great news for residents and potential buyers alike. The development has been consistently improving since we first started work, and the new store will be an excellent addition.”

New phases have also launched at Tadpole Garden Village, including Meridian and The Pinnacle, offering a range of apartments, bungalows and homes.

Prices at Tadpole Garden Village start at £330,000 for a two bedroom bungalow at The Farmstead, with schemes such as the Government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan, SmoothMove or Part Exchange available on selected homes.
