Taylor Wimpey has unveiled an animation to inspire and encourage young girls to explore the many career paths available for women in the housing industry.
For a second year running, Taylor Wimpey took part in The Festival of the Girl event, which was held virtually on Sunday 11th October. The event gave young women the chance to explore topics including body positivity, physical and mental health and aspirational careers through a range of speakers, workshops and online activities.
Taylor Wimpey’s animation takes young girls through the journey of “Who helps to build a house”. To highlight just how many roles are open to them for future careers, the video explores each stage of build, all the way from the Land and Planning team, through to the Production and Commercial teams, to the Sales and Marketing teams.
The Taylor Wimpey regions of East Anglia, Oxfordshire, South Midlands and Southern Counties worked together to create the animation and a total of £1000 has been donated towards the initiative.
Jennifer Toll, Founder of Not Just a Princess and Co-founder of the Festival of the Girl, said: “We greatly appreciate the support and involvement that Taylor Wimpey has given to Festival of the Girl over the past two years. The ages of seven to 11 are pivotal in the development of young girls, with many of their adolescent issues starting in the transition period from primary to secondary school. Our festivals give young females the opportunity to access a range of experiences and activities that can help them realise the extent of their future potential and support them through this important stage in their lives.”

Not Just A Princess (NJAP) works to raise the profiles of women who are ‘not just a princess’ - they are pilots, firefighters, surgeons and often mothers too. The business aims to challenge the status quo to make sure women have a much wider choice of careers, be that anything from pilot to plumber. NJAP was founded by business psychologist Jennifer Toll.
