All are welcome at a very special organ music performance at St Mary's Church in Lydiard Tregoze on Saturday 25 July from 6.30pm.
Organist Toby Wright will give a recital to mark the launch of a fundraising appeal to restore the organ for future generations.
Toby is a young organist from Hungerford who is developing a strong social media following, and will play music ranging across many centuries, from Bach to John Williams.
Toby regularly posts on Facebook and Instagram and has played many of the finest organs across the UK.
Light refreshments will be served, and there will be a chance to talk to Toby after the recital. He will also talk about the music he will be playing.
The organ at St Mary’s was built by Sweetland of Bath in 1902, and is thought to be one of his last instruments.
It is unusual that other than general restoration, it is as it was left in 1902.
A spokesperson for the appeal organisers said: "We are looking to restore the organ with the aim of keeping its lovely tonal qualities, and to give it a once in a generation clean, and make sure that it is in good working order for many years to come."
Tickets are £10 (plus booking fee) and can be purchased online via https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1989752745023?aff=oddtdtcreator or can be purchased at the church on the evening.
The recital will be part of the 411th anniversary weekend - running from 24-27 July - of the installation of the of famous St John Triptych, which will be open and on view to the public.
