Thamesdown Drive has been closed after a burst water main caused flooding.

Engineers from Thames Water are currently on site after the burst water mains near Thamesdown Drive near the Toby Carvery and Abbeymeads has caused chaos across the area.

Police are also on site to divert traffic away from the area with road closures in place.

SN2, SN5 and SN25 postcodes were left with no water or low pressure but a report from Thames Water at 7pm does state that they should be getting water again now.

A specialist digging and repair team are on site to investigate the damaged section and work out the best way to fix it.

A Thames Water spokesperson said: "Our engineers are dealing with a burst pipe in SN25. We’re sorry if you have low pressure or no water as a result.

"We’ll need to pinpoint the exact section of pipe where the burst has happened before deciding the best way to fix it.

"Now that we’ve verified it’s a burst pipe, we’ve asked a specialist digging and repair team to attend to expose the damaged section and decide how best to fix it.

"This is a complex repair and is going to take longer than usual to fix. We know how inconvenient it is if you lose your water supply, so we’ll work hard to get things back to normal as soon as we can."

This comes only a day after a burst water main in Woodland Close, Wroughton left Old Town with no water yesterday morning.

Drivers are being asked to find alternate routes and pedestrians are being warned to stay away from the affected areas.
