Further delays are expected to road users on the M4 and A419, as well as those around Swindon, tomorrow morning - Tuesday 14 July.

An abnormal load is due to enter Wiltshire through junction 18 of the M4 at approximately 10.30am, exiting via junction 15 and onto the A419 before travelling northbound towards the Rat Trap junction. This is the third such load in the last few days.

The load, which consists of two panel presses, will exit at the Rat Trap and then travel along Highworth Road, Hobley Drive and Swindon Road before arriving at its final destination - the BMW plant on Swindon Road.

The convoy will consist of two loads, both 4.90 metres wide and weighing 80 and 110 tonnes respectively, and associated private and police escort vehicles.

Due to width and weight, the loads will be slow moving and have the potential to cause congestion at junctions and within Swindon where oncoming traffic will be required to pull in and wait for the convoy to pass.

Wherever possible, disruption will be kept to a minimum although both hauliers and motorists are asked to be patient should they come across said move.  Anyone travelling over this period on time critical matters should allow sufficient additional time for their journey.

Police escorting resources are being provided by officers and paid for by the haulier at no cost to the public.
