Swindon Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision on Burford Avenue, last week where a vehicle has failed to stop.

Last Thursday (22/04), between 3pm and 3.20pm, it is reported that a car has hit a three-year-old boy at the junction of Walcot Road.

The child suffered minor head injuries but was taken to Great Western Hospital for treatment and to be assessed.

It is understood that the driver, of what is reported as a silver saloon-style car, has initially stopped and spoken to the family of the child before getting back in his vehicle and driven off without passing on any details.

The driver is described as a white man, approximately 6 feet tall and was wearing a shirt and grey trousers.

PC Emilia Cutler said: “I would urge the driver involved in this incident, who will know who they are, to get in contact with us immediately.

“It is fortunate the boy only suffered minor injuries and our enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or doorbell footage from this area is asked to contact us on 101 and quote crime reference number 54210037737.

“We’d also like to hear from anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time of the incident with dash cam footage of the incident or the manner of driving of the silver car.”
