Detectives investigating an assault on a woman in Swindon have released images of a key witness they want to speak to.

At the beginning of last week - 6 June - the force issued an appeal to identify a Good Samaritan who had come to the assistance of a woman.

She had been walking in an alleyway behind Manchester Road at around 4.20am on 29 May when she was pushed to the floor by a man.

The suspect was disturbed by a member of the public who then assisted the victim following the incident.

A police spokesperson said: "We are now able to release two pictures of this man in the hope that we can speak to him.

"We would like to stress that he is not being treated as a suspect in this case, but as a potential key witness who may have information which could assist our enquiries."

The man, or anybody who recognises him, is asked to call the police on 101 and quote crime reference number 54220056588. Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
