The Wilkes Academy in Swindon's Westmead Drive has announced 85 positive covid tests.
The performing arts school says it is working closely with parents, students and staff to ensure their safety.
Early last week the academy moved to virtual teaching after a case was confirmed.
Swindon Borough Council said in a statement on social media: "Last week the Academy took the decision to temporarily close and all of its students and staff are currently self-isolating."
The council says that, working alongside the academy and Public Health England, it has identified 85 cases, the majority of them pupils.
Some staff are also affected.
The statement continued: "Alongside the Academy we are also providing additional welfare support to students and are able to provide food and medicines as required.
"Naturally this may generate some anxiety, but it is important to recognise that as cases and their contacts are currently self-isolating, the risk of the virus spreading more widely across the community is low.
"In line with our Local Outbreak Management Plan, Council officers and health partners continue to hold regular calls with Wilkes Academy to provide advice and support to help them to manage & contain this outbreak."
