The Wroughton Making Memories Cafe team are looking for volunteers who would be interested in becoming the group's Treasurer.

The Making Memories Cafe Wroughton was set up in the autumn of 2022.

It is described as a friendly, free and comfortable space for those living with dementia and their carers to socialise, have fun with different activities and listen to guest speakers.

The Cafe is held monthly at the Prospect Hospice and is a community project, which has a team of local volunteers who help run it, supported by members of the Public Health Team at Swindon Borough Council (SBC).

A spokesperson for the organisation said: "We are looking for a volunteer Treasurer to be part of the Making Memories Cafe Committee overseeing the finances of this new project.

"We are looking for someone enthusiastic and trustworthy, ideally with some experience of book-keeping/accountancy."

The team estimate that around 6 - 10 hours of the selected volunteers' time will be required each month (but that they can work mostly from home).

Tasks that the Treasurer would be in charge of would be as follows:
  • Financial planning and budgeting
  • Approving payments (along with other Committee members)
  • Record keeping
  • Attending monthly Committee meetings to provide basic finance overviews
  • Providing ad-hoc advice and guidance to Committee members/volunteers
For an informal discussion about the role, or to apply, individuals can contact: Nyree Kingsbury, Public Health Practitioner via [email protected]
