Employees at npower’s office in Swindon held a fundraising celebration of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and their charity partner of 15 years, Macmillan Cancer Support.

The celebrations centred around the traditional theme of crystal to mark the 15 year anniversary of the partnership. There were a range of sparkly cakes which were cut up and sold with an all-important cup of coffee. The office hosted cake and sweet stalls, along with crystal maze inspired games and raffle prizes donated by local businesses up for grabs to help raise lots of money, all in the name of charity.

npower held Coffee Mornings across its main sites in the run up to Macmillan’s 29th World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event, which took place across the country on Friday 27th September.  The aim was for each site to raise over £1,000 - and when matched pound for pound by npower, would hopefully hit the £15,000 fundraising target set in celebration of 15 years working side by side with Macmillan.

Volunteer Sam Robertson who helped organise the party at the Trigonos site, said: “What a wonderful way to round off the week with our Coffee Morning crystal anniversary party, raising over £1,120 towards the fundraising total. Being part of the charity committee, I can vouch for the fact that the team have worked tirelessly to host such a fantastic event, and it means so much to me with how generous people have been with their time and contributions. Macmillan is an amazing charity which is very close to my heart as I’ve lost friends and family to cancer, so I take every opportunity to get involved and help raise as much money as I can.”

Looking back over the years, npower’s Community Manager Heather Tyrer, said: “Since 2004, our truly impressive employee fundraisers and volunteers  have shown massive support for Macmillan by taking part in a range of activities each year including hikes, cycling challenges, rowing events, and the most anticipated event of the year, our lovely Coffee Mornings across all ours sites.

“As we celebrate 15 glorious years together, a massive thanks goes out to all our employees, as the value of the 15 year Macmillan partnership has now hit the £15m milestone. Macmillan means a lot to the people in npower, and the fact that we’ve hit this incredible amount for this fantastic charity this year, is testament to that.”

Catriona Munn, Partnership Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support says, “I hope all npower staff enjoyed getting together at their Coffee Mornings this year to celebrate our 15 years in partnership. Macmillan is almost entirely funded by donations and we simply cannot support the growing number of people with cancer without your help. All the money raised will go towards helping people with cancer life live as fully as they can.”

In our 15 year partnership, npower has contributed over £15million to help 44,000 families affected by cancer. npower supports its eligible customers who are living with cancer by capping energy bills and writing off debt through npower’s Macmillan Fund. And they support Macmillan’s Energy Advice Team who offer guidance and help source support for people living with cancer who are struggling to keep warm, no matter who supplies their gas and electricity.
