Officers carrying out speed checks in Swindon as part of a national road safety campaign stopped a supercar being driven at 107mph in a 50mph zone.

Teams were out across the town over the weekend, acting as a visible presence to remind motorists about the importance of adhering to speed limits and carrying out enforcement action against those who were flouting the law.
On Sunday (24/05) an orange McLaren 540c supercar was stopped after being caught driving at 107mph in a 50mph zone on Great Western Way, near the Mannington Roundabout.
The driver, a 29-year-old man, has been reported to court.

- 12 motorists given words of advice for driving up to 46mph in a 40mph zone.
- A 25-year-old man given a traffic offence report for driving a Mercedes E220 at 88mph in Thamesdown Drive, which is a 40mph zone.
- A 53-year-old man given a traffic offence report for driving a Honda Civic at 66mph in Thamesdown Drive.

- A 30-year-old man given a traffic offence report for driving a Peugeot 308 at 70mph in Thamesdown Drive.
- A 35-year-old man given a traffic offence report for driving a Ford C-Max at 64mph in Thamesdown Drive.
Traffic offence reports are handed to the justice traffic department to determine how the offences should be dealt with.
Sergeant Connor Crespin, from Swindon Police CPT, said: “These speed checks over the weekend highlight the importance of the work we are doing to educate drivers about the need to drive safely.
“The speed limits are there for a reason – to keep us all safe and ultimately save lives – and I know the vast majority of people will be very supportive of these operations.
“We have received numerous reports people concerned about speeding in certain areas, or repeat offending by certain drivers, so I hope this shows our communities that we are listening and we are taking action.”
Inspector Al Lumley added: "We have seen increased complaints regarding speeding motorists who seem to be taking advantage of the quieter roads.
"These speed checks will pop-up sporadically across the whole of Swindon and Wiltshire in an effort to keep our roads safe and remind the public that float the law and put other road users in danger that the speed limits still apply - pandemic or not."
