Old Town Residents Association invite locals to join community group

Community

We are a vibrant mix of residents interested in building and sustaining a great place to live and developing a strong sense of community. This includes activities like our regular clean up and planting exercise, involvement in planning and development consultation, carefully monitoring the night time economy in the Old Town centre, and supporting events at the Lawns, Wood St, Christchurch and Town Gardens.

Our committee operates as a network for discussions with Borough and Parish Councils, local businesses and police. We hope to represent local residents, and we want to include your views, whether you have ideas about how things could be improved, or have concerns about anything in your area.

Over recent years we have helped to shape local transport, local building developments and licencing of premises. There are many more challenges with infill housing, increasing attempts at Homes of Multiple Occupancy and busier roads.

In 2017 we renamed as the Old Town Residents Association, but we have a heritage of more than 40 years including several local groups such as PaRa (Pipers area), KHARA (Kings Hill) and CLARA (Croft) and members from the Back Garden and the Avenues.

More than ever it is important to represent the whole community and we are looking for new members for our committee young or old and keen to encourage contributions, information and comments from any residents, please do share and contact us via  www.facebook.com/groups/oldtownresidents/.
