Whats going on in Old Town? New Facebook group helps you find out.

Three Old Town residents passionate about the area, have taken over a Facebook group to spread the word about events in the area.

The group, now named 'Old Town Swindon Events', aims to help people find out what's happening in and around Old Town - from music and theatre performances and art exhibitions, to family and community activities, fundraisers, craft fairs, comedy nights and quizzes.

Event organisers can post to the group, and there will be regular 'What's On' lists to make it easy to find events at a glance.

The group already has nearly 1000 members, and the team involved are keen to reach many more. Old Town residents Caroline Davies-Khan, Amanda Kent and Karma Wall are behind the revamped group. 

They said  "We love the range of events in and around Old Town and think they are brilliant for creating community connections but friends sometimes tell us haven't heard what's on until after the event has happened, and we hope that this group will help to change that."

Jamie Hill of Swindon Link/The Ink stepped forward with an offer to take over an existing group he started about ten years ago.

Jamie said "I started the Swindon Theatre and Music Project in 2013 to spread the word about cultural events in Swindon and created the group at that time. I'm pleased to support this initiative which highlights the events offered in Old Town"
