Organisations in Swindon only have a week left to apply to be beneficiaries of the Charity Ball 2017 organised by Rotary Swindon, with the deadline approaching on Thursday 10 November.

Swindon 105.5 community radio have been showcasing their new Studio 3, which was equipped thanks to funds raised by the 2016 Charity Ball, organised by Rotary Swindon, several local businesses and held at the Swindon Marriott hotel. The community radio station helps people retrain after life-changing events, such losing a driver's licence due to having fits. Now the Charity Ball Committee wants to hear from other charities and community organisations that would like to apply to benefit from the 2017 event. The Charity Bally committee members are hard at work planning next year's event and they invite organisations in Swindon and around Witshire to apply to benefit from the funds raised from the 2017 ball. Applications need to reach the secretary, Sue Harding by no later than 4.30pm on Thursday 10 November so contact her urgently if you represent a charity that needs funds other than to pay salaries and other running expenses to get a copy of the application form by email [email protected] This year's ball raised a record amount and it was distributed among 11 deserving groups that provide services to those who need them. One of them, SWINDON 105.5, says a huge thank you to the Swindon Charity Ball supporters for a grant received from the 2016 Ball towards the training facilities and third studio, used for recording, training, and soon also live broadcasting. Station manager Shirley Ludford said: "The process of applying was simple, allowing me to focus on the actual need and the benefits of a grant.  Receiving £4,000 towards our work means more time spent on service delivery and less on fundraising – which unofficially takes a big part of my time because the town’s community radio station mainly relies of fundraising alongside grants, donations and Friends. "As a totally accessible and inclusive station, each year we provide over 80 placements for students, job placements, trainees, volunteer positions for all ages and abilities, training sessions and courses for individuals and groups, as well as projects with schools and community support groups. "We broadcast 24-hours a day, seven days a week and love getting out and about supporting community events. "If you would like to visit our studios at the Liden Centre, Barrington Close, Liden, Swindon, do give us a call.  We’d love to hear from you or give you more information about our regionally unique service for which community and corporate support is very much valued, helping us help others."
