Police appeal after man assaulted in Swindon last night

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Walcot, Swindon last night.

A member of the public phoned police at around 10.40pm last night (15 May 2018) reporting a group of youths acting suspiciously in Shrewsbury Road.

Officers attended and, assisted by the police helicopter, carried out a thorough search of the area.

A short while later we were alerted to a man being admitted to Great Western Hospital with serious head and chest injuries. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Due to the nature of his injuries we are still waiting to speak to him to ascertain exactly what happened.

No arrests have been made at this stage.
