Officers carried out a warrant on an address in West Swindon this morning (Tuesday 28 May) and discovered a cannabis farm inside.

Around 6am today officers attended the property on Silchester Way, Westlea;  once inside they found approximately 100 cannabis plants and growing equipment.

A 25-year-old woman and 28-year-old man were arrested at the scene on suspicion of production of a class B drug, money laundering, abstracting electricity and entering the United Kingdom illegally.

They are currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station.

Sergeant James Rodrigues said:  "This was a good find and a positive warrant for officers from the local Community Policing Teams who have seized a quantity of cannabis, and arrested two people.

"It's really important that members of the public feel confident in reporting suspected drug activity in their area to police so we can build an intelligence picture and act on the information we receive.

"We know how negatively drug activity can impact on a neighbourhood and we are committed to dealing with those engaged in this kind of criminality."

Enquiries are ongoing. If you suspect drug activity in your area, please call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
