Projects across Swindon share in Lottery funding bonanza

School play equipment, an autism support network and the Swindon Special Olympics are just a few of the beneficiaries of the latest round of National Lottery grants by the Big Lottery Fund.

Across the South West the Big Lottery Fund shared out £3,200,584 amongst 183 projects.

In Swindon six projects managed to gain from the latest round of funding including nearly £100,000 to DASH - Discovering Autistic Spectrum Happiness.

The Swindon beneficiaries are:

  • Holy Cross Catholic Primary School - Adventure Trail for the Local Community. The school will use the funding to create an adventure trail, encouraging children to engage in exercise and lead healthier lifestyles. ?9,971.34
  • Oliver Tomkins CE VA Infant and Nursery School - Outdoor learn and play equipment with all year access - This school will use the funding to install outdoor play equipment for the benefit of early years and preschool children, improving outdoor and creative play opportunities. £9,980
  • Swindon Women's Aid - House of Play - This group will use the funding to provide a house of play for children living in a refuge who have witnessed domestic violence. This will allow children to gain confidence and develop life skills through interacting with other children in a safe and supportive environment. £6,432
  • Swindon Champions Multi-sport Club - Swindon Special Olympics - This group will use the funding to deliver weekly sports activities and a community event for children with learning disabilities. This will encourage participants to engage in positive social activities to help prevent isolation and obesity issues. £9,985
  • Foggys "invisible illness" Support - Foggy's Waddling and Paddling - This group will use the funding to pay for hydrotherapy pool hire for up to 40 members with a range of physical disabilities. This will improve health and wellbeing of people, reducing their pain, keeping them physically active and reducing isolation. £3,060
  • DASH - Discovering Autistic Spectrum Happiness - Autism Matters - Following a successful pilot, this project will provide a support and advice service for anyone on the autistic spectrum, and their families. The service will offer a mixture of appointment and drop in services offering support in many areas including diagnosis, debt, education, employment and housing. ?89,433
