PTA staff praised by students for raising over £20,000 for their school

Haydonleigh Primary School were over the moon after receiving a brand new Library Bus and laptops thanks to the efforts of their PTA staff.

Students and staff of Haydonleigh Primary School are celebrating after receiving more than £20,000 thanks to the school's PTA (Parent-Teacher Association). To say thank you the school's students made giant cards and hosted a special lunch for the staff which saw the whole school dine together.

After much fundraising efforts the school's PTA have been able to provide Haydonleigh Primary School students with a new classroom - a Library Bus, which was unveiled in March. With funds to spare the school's curriculum was enriched further after purchasing 42 laptops for students to use. In total £20,449 has been raised for the school.

After receiving the new library and laptops the students and teachers wanted to give back to the PTA for all their fundraising efforts which is aiming to benefit the children's education.

PTA Co-Chair Joanne Fusco said: "We all work equally as a team -  it's nice to know how well appreciated we are."

Since the library's launch the students have been able to use the bus on a weekly basis as part of their reading sessions.

PTA Co-Chair Lucy Harris, whose son attends Haydonleigh, said: "It's not about going out of the classroom to get a book, it's so much more. My son absolutely loves it. They're all proud of it, which is why when they go on it they're full of excitement."

Teaching Assistant, and PTA organiser, Lisa Fry said: "They love it - it's always in use."

As part of the School's next fundraiser, a Summer Fair, the PTA are hoping to raise funds for an outdoor classroom which will be a shelter for students to use at play time as well as reading time.
