Swindon Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an incident which occurred in Grange Drive, Swindon.

At approximately 9pm on Monday 29 January, an Asian couple were outside the parade of shops in Grange Drive walking to their car when a group of youths started shouting racial abuse at them.

The youths then set upon the couple, who both received minor injuries including cuts and bruises.

PC Chris Wickham said: “We have very little information regarding what the group of youths looked like. We believe they were all male and were all wearing dark clothing.

“Our enquiries are continuing at this time - a number of witnesses have been spoken to, but we would like to appeal to anyone who may have either witnessed the incident, heard anything suspicious in the area, or anyone who may know who was in the group involved to please get in touch.

“This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated and the incident has left the victims feeling upset.

“We would encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim of racial abuse to never suffer in silence and report it to police on 101 or via the True Vision website www.report-it.org.uk.”

Anyone with information in relation to this incident should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
