Swindon-based construction firm Beard has expanded its Swindon head offices in Faraday Road with the opening of ‘The Roundhouse’ by Robert Buckland, MP for South Swindon.

Constructed by Beard and designed by Quattro Design Architects, the smart new £250,000 extension has been purpose built to provide dining and leisure facilities for the family-owned firm’s near 300 staff based at the Swindon office.

Named after its modern rounded design, the new facility which connects to the main Beard building through a walkway, also features a 139 sq m enclosed open-air break-out area for staff to relax outside during the summer months.

Robert Buckland Conservative MP for South Swindon says: “I was delighted to be asked to open this impressive new building and I am very impressed with the facilities that this local, family-run company are now able to offer staff.

“Since 2010, it has been hugely encouraging to see many local businesses like Beard grow in Swindon, providing more jobs and opportunities.  I was particularly pleased to meet apprentices who are learning important skills as they start in the workplace.”

“We want Beard to be a great place to work and it’s important to us that we provide our people with comfortable, high quality facilities where they can relax, refuel and get together on a more informal basis,” says Mark Beard, chief executive of Beard. “Since 2010 when Robert became MP for South Swindon, our office has almost doubled in size from 167 staff to 291. We’re therefore delighted that he was able to officially open The Roundhouse and tour the new building which we hope our expanding Swindon team will enjoy for many years to come.”
