Swindon Croquet Club beat the Swindon Town Football Club Community Foundation Extra Time team in the first leg of an annual charity tournament.
A total of 26 players competed over 20 games with tournament organiser Diana Trott managing to conclude proceedings before the wet weather rolled in.
The Swindon croquet team said standout performances came from SCC doubles pairings Jan and Dave Booth, and Barbara Smith and Mick Humphries, with both pairings winning all their three games.
Chairman Clive Smith donated 2 bottles of sparkling wine to add to the fundraising effort and, after a shoot-out from the corner of the lawn, Colin Goodall and Mick Humphries’s shots were nearest to the peg meaning they took the prize.
A total of £162 was raised, which will be donated to Wiltshire Air Ambulance and British Heart Foundation.
Chairman Clive Smith said: "Thanks to Diana for organising a very enjoyable tournament and to everyone who took part. The second leg will be held on 26 August when we will raise more funds for these deserving causes."
