We could all do with escaping on a weekend break every now and again. And, when you add a hot tub to the mix, the idea of that break gets all the more enticing!

In terms of relaxation, you can’t really beat a hot tub. The mix of warmth and bubbling water jets create the perfect atmosphere for a proper rejuvenation session. So, is it any surprise that hot tub weekend breaks have become one of the most popular holiday choices in the UK?

Whether you’re planning on having a romantic getaway, a weekend with friends or just a solo staycation, read on for our guide of how to make the most of your hot tub break.

Pack some comfort essentials

Since relaxation is the name of the game when you’re on holiday, you’ll want to make sure that you have comfy things to wear. Pack some soft loungewear and a good set of pyjamas so that you know you’ll be spending your evenings in proper comfort.

Check ahead of time if your accommodation provides bathrobes or towels, or else you’ll need to add those to your suitcase too. Since you don’t have to worry too much about space in your bags you can always err on the side of caution and bring extra!

Unplug to relax

Aside from the stress of work, the amount of time most of us spend on our phones and other devices is one of the least relaxing aspects of modern life. Which is exactly why your hot tub weekend is the perfect time to unplug.

You don’t have to abandon your phone at home, of course. But maybe do your best not to always keep it to hand and resist the urge to keep checking your social media every few minutes.

Even if you don’t want to go for the full digital detox, take the opportunity to spend time away from all the screens and connecting with the present. After all, spending time soaking in the hot tub is an easy excuse for a phone-free evening.

Add some aromatherapy

For all the relaxing properties that a hot tub has, it doesn’t cover every base. If you want to maximise the potential of your time in the warm waters, add a dash of aromatherapy to the mix.

Bringing along some scented candles can add atmosphere and a more spa-like feeling to your time in the hot tub. Scents such as lavender and chamomile are well known to promote relaxation, as well as aiding sleep quality.

Avoid the temptation of essential oils or bath salts, as these can disrupt the quality of the water in the hot tub and may prompt extra maintenance.

Soak in some nature

If you choose the right destination, you could be enjoying an outside hot tub surrounded by beautiful scenery. Whether it’s a coastal vista, a hilltop view or a forest setting, take the time to sit back and appreciate your natural surroundings.

Even when you’re not spending time in the hot tub, take advantage of your location and go for a long walk. From simple strolls through the woods to a whole day of hiking up mountainsides, time exercising in nature is a great way to bring some extra tranquillity and relaxation to your break.

Make time for reflexion

In the hectic rush of everyday life, it’s hard to make the time to properly reflect. However, mindfulness and proper reflection are key to giving yourself a chance to enjoy the simple pleasures of what’s around you.

While you’re spending time in the hot tub – alone or with your travelling companions – take the opportunity to clear your mind of worries. Think back on what you’ve enjoyed over the course of the day or simply spend some time focusing on how your relaxing body feels. You’ll definitely notice the benefits.

A hot tub weekend break is the ideal time to indulge in some proper relaxation and let the rest of your worries drift away for a while. So, make sure you take full advantage of the opportunity to enjoy some chill time and make this a holiday you’ll look back on fondly.
