Skoda customers continue to be more satisfied than consumers of any other car brand according to the latest UK Customer Satisfaction Index.

The manufacturer recorded a score of 85.2, placing the brand well above the automotive sector average of 80.7.

Since they were taken over by Volkswagen, Skoda have just got better and better.

Their supermini Fabia, which has been around for more than 22 years, is now in its fourth generation and has improved its equipment, style and excellent safety kit.

The Fabia, which costs between £15,300 and £20,750, is offered with a choice of four trim levels: S, SE Comfort, Colour Edition and SE L.

The entry-level gives you plenty of equipment, including LED headlights, air conditioning and infotainment features. The SE Comfort trim has adjustable driving position plus 15in alloy wheels, a multifunction steering wheel and front fogs.

The top-of-the-range SE L trim gives you 16in alloy wheels, electric rear windows, a 9.2in touchscreen infotainment system, built-in sat nav and dual-zone air conditioning.

There is a 1.0-litre MPI petrol engine available with either 64bhp or 79bhp, or a 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged unit offering more punch with a choice of 94bhp or 108bhp.

All Fabia engines run on petrol, produce between 64bhp and 108bhp and have an excellent five-speed manual gearbox with the exception of the most powerful 108bhp model, which has a six-speed manual as standard and the option of the DSG automatic transmission.

The engines will easily give you 50 miles per gallon, and Skoda have those lovely extras which are unique to Skoda - the ice scraper which is to be found next to the petrol tank flap and the umbrella which slots into the front door.

Top speed is around 120mph, and 60mph is reached in 10 seconds.

Each Fabia has a five-door option and there is a three-year or 60,000-mile warranty.
