This weekend, the Buckhurst Youth Club walked nine miles of the town's 'Green Trail' to enjoy the scenery and learn about local flora and fauna.

The group started at Buckhurst Community Centre and walked to Shaftesbury Lake.

They met with Gail Collins who is a volunteer for the Friends of Shaftesbury Lake. Gail gave a short educational talk about the flora and fauna that live in and around the lake.

The Youth Club then continued round Coate Water, and through all the way to the Wishing Hounds in Croft Woods.

On the walk back the young people in attendance were treated to ice cream at Coate Water and played in the park.

A spokesperson from South Swindon Parish Council said: "Thank you and well done to our Youth Worker, Loreli, for organising the walk and the youth volunteers for helping out. The young people had a great time!"
