Six players from Swindon Croquet Club competed in an in-house competition for the Chairman's Plate trophy this weekend.
The players qualified for finals day by winning or being runners-up of the three round-robin groups which had been played through the season.
Tournament organiser Tony Tomlin oversaw a full day’s play which involved each competitor playing one game against the other five competitors.
All players were said to have executed fine hoop running shots and strong clearances during some closely contested games, with none of the six players remaining unbeaten.
Steve Hares and Martin Briggs both won four out of their five games, with Steve winning the competition by virtue of a higher ‘hoops won’ total, edging Martin into second place.
Tournament organiser Tony Tomlin said: "I was delighted with the quality of play during this competition, and the friendly spirit in which the games were played. Congratulations to Steve on winning, and to all the competitors for their contribution to a super day of croquet."
