This new champion status was achieved with a victory in the penultimate game of the last away match of the season against Bristol Croquet Club at Cedar Road Lawns.

The match consisted of 20 games.

Captain Clive Smith beat Bristol's Marion Hilton 7-1 to ensure a 10.5 to 9.5 win.

After the morning doubles session, Swindon held a narrow 2.5-1.5 lead. This close lead status was maintained throughout the rest of the match.

The team wish to congratulate players Dave Booth, Colin Bailey, Garry Douel and Captain Clive Smith.

Swindon Croquet Club will now progress into the quarter finals of the Champion of Champions knockout competition against all other South West League winners.

The final will take place on 19 September at Sidmouth Croquet Club.
