Members of the Swindon Croquet Club have returned to the green to play the first golf croquet tournament of this season.
There was a strong turnout for Swindon Croquet Club’s (SCC) first golf croquet tournament of the season, which saw a team of high handicap players competing against a team of low handicap players.
The team said tournament organiser Tony Tomlin arranged several rounds of singles and doubles matches and contended with the introduction and complexities of the new ‘Advantage’ handicap system.
Higher handicap players now receive a hoop score advantage instead of the previous ‘free’ shot system.
After two rounds of matches the high handicap team held a narrow 1 point lead, but the low handicap team finished strong, winning all but one of the afternoon singles matches to clinch a hard earned victory.
Low handicap team players Terry Clements, Sandra Jerram, Martin Briggs, Colin Brain and Beverly Briggs remained unbeaten throughout.
SCC's Beverly Briggs said: "Everyone was very grateful to Tony for organising an enjoyable day’s play. He did a superb job."
