Following last week’s disappointing defeat at the hands of Torfaen Tigers, Swindon St George made a spectacular return to form on Saturday, 2 July, running in no fewer than 11 tries to clock up 60 points to 12 victory over Devon Sharks.

The carnage started as early as the third minute when Connor Tomley crossed over for a six pointer. Furthermore, by the time six minutes had clocked up, the wily half back had already completed a fine hat trick.

The one-way traffic continued with three more home tries, before the Sharks finally got on to the score sheet to make it 34-6. However, the half ended as it started with Jack Daynes and Liam Rowe powering over and Reece Floyd kicking everything in sight, giving a half time score line of 46-6.

More Swindon pressure was to come in the second period, Harry Daynes and Connor Tomley both scoring converted tries but, despite enduring a draining afternoon, the Sharks finished off the game with a consolation try and goal.

St George coach Kirk Collins was understandably delighted with his side’s response to the Torfaen defeat, while admitting to an admiration for the spirit of the plucky visitors.

Next up for the Dragons is the short trip to Cheltenham for the local derby with All Golds - never a dull moment when these two clash!
