Clarry Bean, the programming manager at Swindon Arts Centre for many years, has announced he is leaving the day before HQ Theatres takes over the venue on 1 April.
He has sent the following letter to all who know and have worked with him as manager and more recently the part time programming manager at the Arts Centre, and before that in the 1980s when he was assistant manager at the Link Centre when it had an arts facility.
Dear All
I write to let you know that I will be leaving Swindon Borough Council on 31st March after 38½ years of service, 21 of which I have spent at Swindon Arts Centre.
As you may be aware, HQ Theatres & Hospitality Ltd. will be taking over the management of the centre from 1 April. The new company are restructuring the staffing set-up and there is no suitable post available to me in the new arrangement. I am therefore taking a redundancy package.
I am extremely sad to leave and want to thank everyone I have been in contact with over the years. I hope that the Arts Centre will continue to be an important and valued part of Swindon’s cultural scene.
Here is a statement from the new company: 'The Arts Centre will continue to present a variety of productions and welcome audiences to the joy of live performance.
The Arts Centre auditorium continues to be available to hire for performances and events. The building will be open to audiences from 60 minutes prior to the start of the performance.

Clarry is well known on the Swindon music scene and was a former rock singer, amateur actor and musical theatre singer, as well as a male soloist for 23 years with The Kentwood Show Choir. He is pictured with his daughter Abby Mansi who have formed a double act to raise money for charity
