With Carers Rights Day around the corner, Swindon Carers Centre are planning special event to raise awareness for the campaign.

Carers Rights Day is an annual event which raises awareness of the needs and rights of carers and makes carers aware of where they can get the help and support they are entitled too.

This year’s Carers Rights Day is taking place on Friday 24 November, with the theme, ‘Make Connections, Get Support’.

Swindon Carers Centre is holding a Carers Rights Day event to bring carers and local organisations together. Swindon Carers Centre will give a service update and then be joined by guest speakers from Swindon Borough Council, Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group, Robert Buckland MP and Justin Tomlinson MP.

There will be opportunities for carers to ask questions to speakers and to participate in a workshop activity to ensure their voice influences the new Carers Strategy for Swindon. The day will end with lunch and the opportunity to network and talk informally.

Susanna Jones, Swindon Carers Centre CEO, said: “It is vital carers have their expertise and voice recognised and heard to influence the development of services for carers in Swindon.

"Carers Rights Day is a great way to raise awareness of the work the 21,000 unpaid carers in Swindon do, and to ensure they can directly speak with health and social care leaders in the town."
