Swindon outreach worker's London Marathon challenge raises £2,770 for Children's Society

An Outreach Worker from Swindon collected £2,770 in sponsorship money for The Children’s Society after completing the London Marathon.Sara Vanes completed the 26.2 mile course in 5hrs 21mins on Sunday. The money she raised will support the charity’s work with the most vulnerable children across the country affected by issues such as poverty, abuse and neglect.

Sara said: “This is my second marathon but my first ever London Marathon. I decided to run for The Children’s Society because in my work I see the impact things like neglect and poverty can have on children and I wanted to do something to make a difference. My family and friends have been amazing and I am very grateful and extremely lucky.”
The Children’s Society’s Supporter Engagement Officer, Laura Balcombe said: “Completing the London Marathon is a truly remarkable accomplishment and Sara’s outstanding efforts will help to make a real difference to young people’s lives. We are so grateful to Sara, along with all of our London Marathon runners for taking part and supporting our vital work.”
