Friends of Swindon Museum and Art Gallery Talk at Swindon Museum and Art Gallery
Thursday 22 February 2018
7:30pm (Doors open 7pm)
Gallery owner Gordon Samuel will be giving a talk at Swindon Museum and Art Gallery, as part of the Friends of Swindon Museum and Art Gallery’s programme of events. In this talk Samuel will discuss the stunning linocuts created by a significant group of artists throughout the 1920s and ‘30s.
The talk comes after an exhibition of the same name held at the London-based Osbourne
Samuel Gallery in 2013, which celebrated artists who worked with renowned British linocut
artist Claude Flight. Samuel will discuss the dynamic, vibrant work of Sybil Andrews, Cyril
Power and Lill Tschudi, who were associated with Flight at the famous Grosvenor School of
Modern Art. This interesting talk offers the audience insight into the experimental practices and diverse themes explored by the artists, and will highlight the legacy they have left behind.
Gordon Samuel is co-owner of the prestigious Osbourne Samuel Gallery in London, and sits on the board of Trustees for the Swindon Museum and Art Gallery Trust. With this talk, he shares his passion and specialist knowledge of modern linocut printing.
The event will take place on Thursday 22nd February from 7:30pm at Swindon Museum and Art Gallery. Tickets can be purchased online – www.friendsofsmag.org
Tickets: £8/?6 (Friends of Swindon Museum and Art Gallery)
