Thousands of people braved the rain to take part in Swindon Old Town Rotary Club’s fundraising duck race on bank holiday Monday.

The 15th annual event, which took place at the Westcott Recreation Ground, saw thousands of rubber ducks released to float down the stream - with the owner of the fastest duck winning £1,000 and the six runners up scooping £100 each.

Before the race, which was launched by newly appointed mayor Maureen Penny, the field was buzzing with family fun and games, stalls, cakes, a dog show and crafts.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Brighter Futures radiotherapy appeal and Wiltshire Treehouse - supporting bereaved children.

The event was sponsored by Nationwide and the McArthur Glen Outlet Village.
