Earlier this week a warrant was issued for the arrest of builder John Hart, who defrauded an elderly man from Swindon of £34,500.

Hart, aged 62, from Pokedown in Bournemouth, was found guilty of one count of fraud at Swindon Crown Court yesterday, despite not turning up for the case.

As a result, a warrant was issued.

He handed himself in and appeared at Swindon Crown Court today where he was sentenced to an additional four months for Contempt of Court, which will be added to the five year custodial sentence he was handed yesterday for fraud.

Det Con James Roberts from Swindon CID said: "I would like to thank the public and the local media for sharing the news of the case which put pressure on Hart to hand himself in. I welcome the additional sentence handed to him today.”
