A brand new Student Wellbeing Centre, which is all about maintaining physical and mental health, has been launched at Swindon College.

The new area was created by the Student Engagement Team, as well as Sports Maker Josef Thomas, after they asked pupils what they wanted to see happening at Swindon College. It features a gym, games room, private counselling space and an area to chill out in when in between lessons.Swindon College Wellbeing Centre

Dean Parsons, Student Engagement Manager, said: “Student Wellbeing is at the forefront of Swindon College’s agenda. We place a large emphasis on behaviour, wellbeing and support for students - including personal development and welfare (both physical & mental health). The new Student Wellbeing Centre will offer students access to fitness equipment, leisure activities, information, counselling and a multi faith chaplaincy service.”

Several businesses, including a local juice bar and a Swindon Nutritional Therapist, came along to the event and gave out freebies and information. There was also a live DJ who was offering free tutorials for the students on how to mix music.

A 16 year old student at the launch said: “I am really impressed with this centre. There is so much to do and I will definitely be coming here in-between my lessons.”
