Swindon St George Rugby League Club says it is looking forward to an exciting future.
Having secured their ground share agreement to use the facilities at Greenbridge Road, the Dragons feel the time is right to move to the Midlands set up.
Club chairman Warren Huggins said: "We have quickly settled into our new surroundings and are ready to challenge the likes of Birmingham, Nottingham, Coventry and Oxford in men’s open age action.
"Training is set for Wednesday nights, starting on the 10th of April at 7pm, and everyone and anyone are welcome, regardless of age or experience, to come along and enjoy a taste of our wonderful sport."
The club now also has a thriving Masters RL set up for the over 35s, playing a modified form of the game, with different tackling rules graded to everyone’s particular age group, identified by specific short colours, meaning all ages can happily play together in the same game.
The Master Dragons currently boast an age range of 35 to 73. Training for Masters RL is also on Wednesday evenings with an earlier start time of 6.15pm, and again all newcomers are welcome.
Meanwhile, the wheels are rolling at the New College sports hall, with coaching and training sessions on Thursday evenings from 8-10pm.
The Wheelchair RL side has already had its first outing of the season at home to Gravesend, which resulted in a thumping 54-8 victory for the Dragons, and team coach Tony Ellis would love to welcome more fresh faces as interest in this form of Rugby League continues to rise.
Boys, girls, men and women, whether wheelchair users or not, are invited for an initial free session on any Thursday evening.
Looking to the club’s future, junior sessions will be recommencing shortly at Greenbridge Road on Sunday mornings for the younger boys and girls and on Wednesday evenings for the older ones, full details to follow.
