THE GREENDOWN COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Wiltshire Education Committee have now formally approved
the creation of the first Community School in the County.
a
WHO MAY USE THE SCHOOL PREMISES AND FACILITIES?
The facilities and premises may be used by individuals and groups for
any social, recreational, or educational purposes.
WHEN ARE THE FACILITIES AVAILABLE?
Generally at all times during the year although special arrangements may
be necessary for Bank Holidays. During the normal school day, from a
8.30 a.m. to 2.15 p.m. the premises are used mainly by the students
although some areas and facilities will also be available for other uses
during these times. Normally the buildings will close at around 10.30
p.m. although extensions are available by special arrangement. It is
important to note that the facilities are available 7 days per week.
HOW MUCH DOES IT ALL COST?
Of course charges will be made for the use of the facilities. However
this money is controlled by the Management Committee who will decide how
it may be used to improve the facilities. The LEA will eventually give
C the Committee complete financial control although for the first year we
will, quite rightly, have to do a very careful analysis of what it all
costs.
C
WHO CONTROLS THE USE OF THE PREMISES?
A Community Management Committee will be established and they will
decide the annual programme. This Committee is an elected body and
C consists mainly of people who actually use the facilities.
WHAT IS AVAILABLE?
The whole building, including specialist facilities such as workshops,
gymnasium, community suite, etc. The outside areas are also available -
tennis courts, pitches etc. Certain equipment is also included such as E
the school computer system, weight training apparatus and other special
equipment.
HOW CAN I GET FURTHER INFORMATION?
