SHAW
Together at
last
If all goes without a hitch, Mon-
day 9th January will see West
Swindon's latest primary school
opening its doors to its first pu-
pils - four months late.
Salt Way is the area's eighth
primary school and serves fami-
lies in the Ramleaze and Mid-
dleleaze areas of Shaw. It should
have been ready last August to
accept children at the beginning
of the school year. However later
assurances by the builders and
Wiltshire County Council that it
would be ready at the end of
November were wildly optimis-
tic. A range of reasons were given
for the delays including site prob-
lems and a tight building sched-
ule.
Despite the lack of a building,
the 'school' did start on time with
ahead, three teachers and 24 chil-
dren sharing classrooms and fa-
cilities at Shaw's Brookfield
School.
