We all know West Swindon is a cosmopolitan place, but of our respond-

Reader's shopping patterns was our other main interest. 63% said they
use Swindon for their non-food shopping and 37% went out of the town.
For food, 40.6% visit ASDA at the West Swindon
Centre, 46.6% go to Sainsbury's Bridgemead and
12.8% shop at other superstores or local shopping
areas.

teresting booklet looking back over ten years in Bor-
ough's development from 1981 to 1990. Called MISSING
Thamesdown Trends, it provides a wealth of statis-

Picking out a few aspects of particular interest to

267.3%, from 2,550 people to 9,367. In Toothill Ward

This expansion is mirrored in the number of house-
holds. In Freshbrook there was a massive 305.3% SWINDON
growth (920 to 3,729) and in Toothill, 184.2% growth CABLE
(1,987 to 5,648).
