Charities benefit from bowlers fund raising
At a well attended annual general meeting on 6 November, members
of Haydon Wick Bowls Club witnessed the culmination of last
season's charitable endeavors as cheques were handed over to two
charities.
Outgoing president, Betty Haines had, with members' assistance,
raised £304 for her selected charity, the National Asthma Society.
Receiving the cheque, area representative Marilyn Stott said the money
would be used locally, added to other funds raised for the purchase of
equipment for the Great Western Hospital.
A cheque for £1,000 was handed to Gillian Richardson, community
fundraiser for the Prospect Hospice. The sum was raised from a gala
day and a race night as the club responded to the hospice's sporting
appeal which formed part of its 21st anniversary fund raising efforts.
